Human Rights Now
2008 is the 60th Anniversary
of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights. But
what does human rights mean in the changing world of the
21st century when diversity and different value systems
are exploding around the world. Is there a common agenda
that can identify a universal manifesto of human rights.
This meeting on October 16th is being held in partnership
with the some branches of United Nations Association.

Gender In The 21st Century
This meeting will look
at how our views of gender are changing for both men
and women.
Men and women are beginning to constantly re evaluate
their own role in society. And yet as these roles are
fast changing there are other forces such as fundamentalism,
global warming, world poverty that create crisis and
force us back into traditional modes. How do we overcome
this and create a new "liberation philosophy"
for both men and women. How do we create a new humanism
that encompasses all of humankind into a new future
that is sustainable?

Child Abuse & Exploitation
One of the major victims
of trafficking is children. In this meeting we want
to look at the exploitation and abuse of children worldwide
and what is being done about it and what we can do to
help.
Some countries continue to execute child offenders
or sentence them to death. An estimated 158 million
children aged 5-14 are engaged in child labour - one
in six children in the world. Every year, over a million
children are trafficked into the modern-day equivalent
of slavery.
